Style + comfort = impossible?

Ahh, this lucky Trib columnist got to talk to other women about shoes for this column. She came up with some interesting points, too.

She's right on that finding comfortable, cute women's shoes is tough. Really tough. So tough that my favorite black heels are in the repair shop yet again.
I just can't bring myself to replace them and wouldn't know where to start. They're pointy black soft pumps with a nice, low heel. I wear them for hours and have even been known to run in them. Maybe that's why they're being repaired.
I was interested by this columnist's point that ballet flats aren't much better than super-high heels for your feet. I'll have to keep that in mind - flats are usually my first choice when I'm spending a lot of time on my feet. But, then again, when it comes to shoes I'll admit I'm young and foolish. My feet will probably someday regret many of my shoe choices.
Anyhow, how do you mix style and comfort when it comes to shoes? Any tips the rest of the world needs to know about?
