Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs hosts an Open House at Veteran Service Office in Urbana for veterans, their families and survivors of fallen service members. The office, houses two of the state's 73 Veteran Service Officers who offer help to Veterans and their families in applying for and receiving compensation and benefits from the federal VA and the state. Veteran Service Offices serve as sign-up locations and informational hubs for the state's programs and benefits, including: the Illinois Warrior Assistance Program - a first in the nation program that provides 24-hour, toll-free assistance for Veterans, day or night, with the symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and offers Traumatic Brain Injury screenings for all Illinois Veterans; and Veterans Care - Governor Blagojevich's health insurance program providing comprehensive, affordable healthcare to Illinois' uninsured Veterans.View Events by date
