Responsibilities:
• Direct all aspects of fund-raising efforts for the Beckman Institute.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit gift prospects from individuals, corporations, associations and foundations. Some travel is required.
• Work with the Director of the Beckman Institute and the University of Illinois Foundation to identify and cultivate new prospects.
• Work with Beckman Institute administration and faculty members to identify proposals for potential fund-raising initiatives.
• Set monetary and departmental goals and be able to efficiently track and report on the progress of proposals.
• Direct the preparation and analysis of reports for administrative review and present implications regarding fund-raising initiatives and activities to the executive management.
• Represent the Beckman Institute on University-wide fund-raising efforts and campus committees and teams as assigned.
• As the development program expands, oversee the professional and support staff performing duties and responsibilities related to fund-raising activities for the Institute.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be highly organized and self-motivated.
• Minimum of three years experience in development or related field.
• Ability to manage multiple projects from inception to completion and meet project deadlines.
• Strong leadership skills that can be applied to both internal and external audiences.
