Woman removed from car after crash in bank lot
URBANA – An Urbana woman had to be removed from her car Saturday morning after she pushed the wrong pedal and drove her car up on its left side in a bank parking lot.
Frieda M. Humes, 79, was westbound at about 11 a.m. Saturday on Elm Street when she entered the parking lot at Busey Bank, 206 W. Elm St., and stopped. She then backed out of the lot and continued west on Elm Street, when she abruptly accelerated and turned toward an unoccupied car in the bank's parking lot, according to an Urbana police report.
Humes' car crossed the curb and sidewalk before striking the car and ended up suspended on its two left wheels.
Humes reported that she "pushed the wrong pedal" and was not on a cell phone at the time of the accident.
No injuries were reported.
