Volunteer coach arraigned on misdemeanor charge
TOLONO – A volunteer youth basketball coach is due in court Feb. 18 with a private attorney on a charge stemming from a melee at a game Monday night.
Michael McCarty, 40, of Savoy was arraigned Tuesday on a misdemeanor battery charge accusing him of making physical contact with a 12-year-old boy at a basketball game at the Unity West elementary school. Judge Richard Klaus set bond at $5,000.
