Man accused of molestation has next court appearance
URBANA — An Urbana man accused of sexually molesting a child several years ago is due back in court next month.
Champaign attorney Walter Ding entered his appearance in Champaign County Circuit Court Tuesday for Kenji Haley, 31.
Haley, who listed an address in the 1100 block of West Hill Street, had been wanted on a warrant issued in 2007 charging him with a single count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
State’s Attorney Julia Rietz said the charge alleges that Haley committed a sex act with a girl between November 2003 and July 2005 when he was dating the child’s mother. It happened at their Urbana home.
The incident came to light when the girl told a relative, who then reported it to the child’s mother.
Judge John Kennedy ordered that Haley’s bond of $250,000 should continue. He told Haley to be back in court Nov. 10.
