Champaign man injured in crash
CHAMPAIGN – A Champaign man was treated for injuries he suffered in a traffic accident in northwest Champaign about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Champaign police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said a preliminary report showed that Onurcan Boke, 20, of the 1100 block of Laura Drive, Champaign, was stopped in traffic in the 2800 block of West Bradley Avenue near Pomona Drive waiting to make a left turn when he was hit from behind by a van driven by Cynthia Sampson, 47, of the 2900 block of Carrelton Drive, Champaign.
The force of the collision pushed Boke's car into the path of an eastbound Champaign Unit 4 school bus, which swerved but was hit by the car.
Boke was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he was treated and released. No other injuries were reported.
Sampson was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
