Examination room chair fire extinguished by security guard
CHAMPAIGN – An electrical short in an exam room chair caused a small fire at Christie Clinic, 101 W. University Ave., C, early this morning.
Champaign fire department spokeswoman Dena Schumacher said firefighters were sent to the clinic at 5:33 a.m. today. Although the dispatch call went out as a working fire, investigation showed the fire was limited to the examination chair and it had already been put out by a Christie security guard with an extinguisher by the time firefighters arrived, she said.
