Rantoul man to start bus service
RANTOUL – Maj. Gen. Frank Elliott, the late Chanute Air Force Base commander, used to say that his community's biggest need was bus service linking Rantoul with Champaign-Urbana.
Elliott, who later was Rantoul's first economic development director, died in 1997, but his dream became a reality on Friday.
Rantoul resident Wendell Golston has launched Rantoul U-C Express, a private bus service running between Rantoul and Champaign-Urbana from 6 a.m. to midnight Mondays through Saturdays.
