Bement man charged with attempted murder
BEMENT – A Bement man was in custody at the Piatt County Jail Saturday night on a preliminary charge of attempted murder after allegedly trying to strangle his girlfriend with a pair of martial-arts nunchucks, according to Bement police.
Officer James Morris said Alec Hamilton, 24, was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at his home in the 500 block of South Hinkley, Bement. Morris said Hamilton was also charged with criminal damage to property over $300 for damaging a vehicle that his girlfriend was trying to use to escape from him.
