Champaign man arrested after report of sex assault
URBANA – Police have arrested a Champaign man in connection with the sexual assault of an Urbana woman this morning. According to an Urbana police report, police were called to a home in the 400 block of East Fairlawn Drive, Urbana, at 3:48 a.m.
A 21-year-old woman who lived there told police that William Laws, 28, who listed an address in the 600 block of East Bradley Avenue, Champaign, came to her home and began to have a conversation with her. The two were acquainted, according to Urbana police Lt. Bryant Seraphin. The conversation escalated into a heated argument. The woman told police he forced her down and used his arm to choke her, then forced her to have sex with him.
