Appeal rejected in teen's conviction for resisting arrest
SPRINGFIELD – The 4th District Appellate Court this week affirmed the misdemeanor convictions of a Rantoul teen for resisting and obstructing Champaign police almost two years ago.
The March 30, 2007, arrest of Brian Chesley, 19, near Douglass Park in northeast Champaign prompted some community activists to accuse the police of selective enforcement of laws based on race and excessive use of force.
