Oops! Champaign almost missed one of its own sidewalks
CHAMPAIGN – City of Champaign, note to self: Shovel that sidewalk!
The city of Champaign has issued 17 work orders for unshoveled sidewalks as of Friday afternoon, and sent out management to do the work on its own turf.
A letter carrier alerted The News-Gazette to ice and snow at 410 E. Springfield Ave., a city-owned property, and within a half-hour after the newspaper relayed that to the city, Operations Manager Tom Schuh was out there with a shovel.
