Custom gargoyles to adorn Urbana's clock tower
URBANA – When the man who paid for the county courthouse's new gargoyles saw them, his first reaction was, "They're not ugly enough."
Philanthropist Jack Richmond donated $44,000 for the gargoyles, in addition to the $400,000 he donated for a restored 130-foot clock tower. The four statues are expected to be delivered in March.
