Ex-Gov. Edgar says impeachment 'probably the best thing'
URBANA – While embarrassing for the state's image, the impeachment of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was "probably the best thing that could have happened" to Illinois, former Gov. Jim Edgar says.
By ordering Blagojevich's arrest, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald forced the Legislature to act, allowing the state to begin addressing its myriad problems, Edgar said Wednesday.
