Danville council to vote on questionable budget changes
DANVILLE – In addition to voting on a $43.2 million spending plan for the fiscal year that starts May 1, Danville aldermen will be voting Tuesday night on several amendments to the budget for the current fiscal year.
The city's public works committee considered the 17 budget amendments at the committee's regular meeting last week, but there is a question whether the city violated the Illinois Open Meetings Act by putting some of those amendments on the agenda just prior to the meeting and voting on them. The Illinois Attorney General Office's public access counselor is looking into the situation at the request of The News-Gazette.
