Largest settlement so far approved in Jon White case
DANVILLE – A Vermilion County judge has approved the largest out-of-court settlement so far to be paid by the Urbana school district for litigation arising from the abuse of female students by a former teacher.
Circuit Judge Michael Clary Monday approved the $400,000 settlement for a girl who was a student of Jon White, 28, a former teacher at Thomas Paine Elementary School now serving a 60-year prison sentence for aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The case was approved by a Vermilion County judge because the child and her family now live in that county.
