Firefighters at campus apartment building
CHAMPAIGN — Six residents were evacuated when fire struck a campus apartment building late Monday morning.
According to a Champaign Fire Department report, firefighters were called to 51-53 E. John St., Champaign, at 11:43 a.m. When they arrived four minutes later, they found smoke coming from the southwest corner of the third floor of the 12-unit apartment building.
