Early morning severe weather has crews scrambling
CHAMPAIGN — University Avenue in Champaign near West Side Park was reopened to traffic about 9 a.m. after a limb which blew off a mature tree on the park's south side was cleared.
The limb came down when strong storms blew through the area between 6:30 and 7 a.m. It blocked the eastbound lanes of University Avenue, forcing motorists to go south on Prairie Street.
