Street sense
What do you like about living in Bement?
"I like the people. Everybody doesn't always agree with everybody. But if we have a big project like the Veterans Memorial, everybody works together to make it happen. People come through if it is something they believe in. I know just about everybody in town, and I like them. I'm tickled to death with our new city building. We have a swimming pool. We have a lot of pluses."
Irene Hooker
"I think we have a great community. We have a lot of things going for us that most small towns don't have. We have some wonderful parks for kids and recreation. We have a pool, which many small towns don't have. The little kids love the pool. I feel like Bement is on the move, and everything is looking up."
Pat Tieman
"It's a community with a nice atmosphere and friendly people. It's kind of a farm community, and I wouldn't want to live any place else."
Randy Hinton
"It's a great place to call home. People work together here. We've kept our own school, and we have a paid fire department. This was the first fire district in Piatt County. The town pulls together when there is an emergency."
Mayor Steve Rittenhouse
