Voters in the Jamaica school district will decide next month whether to set aside school board representation requirements that have been in place since the district was formed a half-century ago.

"We've have had some problems getting people to run for the school board," said Tim Prunkard who will finish his second four-year term on the board next spring. "The board just felt that we have all been together long enough (since 1955) that it was time to change, time for the voters to have a choice to vote at large or keep the restriction."
