At long last, bridge project in Tilton nearing completion
TILTON – Dawna Bouton of Ridge Farm visits her relative in Tilton often but getting to the house has been, in Bouton's words, a jigsaw puzzle the last two years due to the road construction on Fifth Street.
But soon that will change as the new Fifth Street bridge opened to local traffic over the weekend and will open fully in the next few weeks, giving Tilton residents and others in the southwest part of Vermilion County a straight shot to Illinois 1 that's unimpeded by railroad crossings.
