Tolono firefighters respond to the scene of the Dec. 27, 2007, accident on the Monticello Road overpass at Interstate 57 that killed Mauna Adams, 58, of Ivesdale.

URBANA – A Longview man Tuesday admitted he was drunk when his pickup truck crashed into the back end of an Ivesdale woman's car, killing her just over a year ago.

After pleading guilty to aggravated driving under the influence, his fourth DUI conviction since 1986, Travis Day, 42, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Under truth-in-sentencing legislation, Day will have to serve at least 8½ years. Judge Richard Klaus, who accepted the negotiated plea agreement, gave Day credit for the year and almost seven weeks he's been in the Champaign County jail.
